Calamus Oil

Calamus Oil, distilled from the aromatic roots of the Acorus calamus plant, is an ancient and potent essential oil with a rich history in Ayurvedic tradition and various cultural traditions around the world. This oil is extracted through steam distillation, capturing the essence of the calamus root's sweet, warm, and somewhat spicy aroma. Known for its strong, grounding scent, Calamus Oil has been used for centuries as a component in perfumery, as a natural insect repellent, and in rituals and spiritual practices.

In aromatherapy, Calamus Oil is valued for its grounding aroma. Its warm, rounded character makes it a favoured oil for aromatic blends.

The chemical composition of Calamus Oil, rich in asarone among other constituents, gives it its distinctive warm, spicy character.

Common Uses: Due to its potent nature, Calamus Oil is often used in low concentrations and in combination with other oils. It finds application in massage oil blends for its grounding aroma, in fragrance blends for its distinctive character, and in natural perfumes for its unique, earthy scent. For external aromatic use only; dilute in a carrier oil before any skin use.
