Mace Oil

Mace Oil, distilled from the aril of the nutmeg seed produced by the Myristica fragrans tree, is an essential oil with a warm, spicy, and slightly sweeter aroma than nutmeg itself. This oil is extracted through steam distillation, capturing the distinctive, aromatic essence of mace, which has long been valued in perfumery for its rich scent.

The aroma is warm and spicy like nutmeg but softer and sweeter, with a faintly woody, peppery edge. It is a good choice for autumn and winter blends, candle and soap crafting, and natural perfumery.

Blends well with: Lavender, Orange, Lemon, and other spice oils such as Cinnamon and Clove. These combinations enhance Mace Oil's warm and spicy notes, creating aromatic blends.

How to use it

Add two or three drops to a diffuser, or dilute at about 1%, roughly 6 drops in 30ml of a carrier oil such as jojoba or sweet almond, for a fragrant massage oil or perfume. Technique tip: mace is a strong, spicy oil, so start with fewer drops and build up, and pair it with a citrus oil to lighten it. If a citrus oil such as lemon or bergamot goes into a skin blend, keep treated skin out of direct sunlight for twelve hours, or diffuse instead. For external aromatic use only, and always dilute before skin use. Keep away from the eyes and do a small patch test before first skin use.
