Mental Clarity & Focus Blend

This blend combines basil, peppermint, rosemary, grapefruit and lemon oils. Basil brings a fresh, sweet herbaceous note, peppermint a cool mintiness, rosemary a dry camphoraceous edge, and grapefruit and lemon a bright, zesty citrus top. It smells sharp and green, closer to crushed herbs and cut peel than to anything perfumed.

The five oils sit in a bright, high-toned register, which is why the blend reads as energising rather than soft or heavy.

How to use it

Add four or five drops to a diffuser on a desk or in a workspace, or dilute at about 2%, roughly 12 drops in 30ml of carrier oil, and apply to the temples or the back of the neck as a fragrance. The technique tip: citrus and mint are top notes and burn off quickly, so this blend is better run in short bursts of twenty or thirty minutes through the day than left going for hours, when the rosemary and basil come to dominate. Grapefruit and lemon are phototoxic on skin, so keep diluted skin use out of direct sun. For external aromatic use only.
