Oregano

Native to the Mediterranean and Western Asia, oregano has been naturalized in Mexico, as well as parts of the United States. Known in latin as "origanum vulgare", oregano is a flowering plant and is a part of the mint family. It’s name translates to ‘brightness of the mountain. Oregano is a staple of most cooking. It can often be found in recipes for pizza sauce, and pasta sauce, and is often combined with olive oil or other oils. It is used in Italian vinaigrettes and is used for marinades.
