Stress Relief Oil

This aromatic blend pairs neroli and lemongrass essential oils. Neroli brings a sweet, floral and slightly citrusy aroma, the orange-blossom note you catch in old-fashioned cologne, while lemongrass adds a lemony, herbaceous lift that is greener and sharper than lemon peel. Together they read bright and floral-citrus rather than heavy.

The blend is made from neroli oil, from Citrus aurantium var. amara, and lemongrass oil, from Cymbopogon citratus or Cymbopogon flexuosus. Neroli is rich in linalool and lemongrass in citral, which is where the bright character comes from.

How to use it

Add three or four drops to a diffuser for a fresh note through a working day, or one drop to a personal inhaler. Diluted in a carrier oil at about 2%, roughly 12 drops in 30ml, it makes a massage oil, and it can be worked into bath salts or an unscented body lotion. Lavender, bergamot or rose round it out. The technique tip: citrus-rich blends fade fastest, so keep the bottle tightly capped and out of the light, and make up scented lotion in small batches you will finish within a few months.
