Thyme is a herb derived from the thymus vulgaris plant native to the Mediterranean. There is evidence of its use in use in ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian cultures for purposes of embalming, for baths and use as incense.
Thyme has a strong spicy, warming, lemony and mint aroma. This is coupled with a herbal, floral, sharp, minty flavor.
Today, thyme is used in tea, zaatar, and has other herbal and culinary uses.
