Turmeric Powder

Ameen Foods Turmeric Powder is made from pure, ground Curcuma longa roots, the source of turmeric's signature golden color and earthy warmth. It's a staple in Indian and Asian cooking, valued for its flavor and vibrant color.

With its warm, slightly bitter, and peppery taste, turmeric adds depth and colour to curries, soups, rice, stews, and marinades. It's also used as a natural dye for food and textiles, giving anything it touches a vibrant yellow tone.

The powder is a vivid golden orange and finely ground, and it stirs easily into oil, ghee, stock and batters. The aroma is earthy and slightly peppery, with a gentle bitterness that mellows once it is cooked. It is also called haldi in Hindi and Urdu, and it is the ingredient that gives mustard, curry powder and many rice dishes their colour.

Turmeric has been trusted for generations in traditional cooking and dye-making, thanks to curcumin, the compound that gives it both its color and its place in culinary history.

A simple, flavorful spice for your kitchen, Ameen Foods Turmeric Powder brings tradition, quality, and color to every dish.

How to use it
Use half a teaspoon to a teaspoon for a pot of curry, dal or rice serving four, and a pinch in marinades, soups and roasted vegetables. Technique tip: fry the powder briefly in hot oil or ghee for about twenty seconds before adding liquid, which removes the raw edge and brings out its colour, but take it off the heat quickly because it burns and turns bitter. Turmeric stains cloth, wooden boards and plastic, so wipe spills straight away.
