Ruby Orchard Herbal Tea

Ruby Orchard Herbal Tea is a loose blend of hibiscus, hawthorn berry and orange peel that brews a deep ruby red. Hibiscus, also known as karkade or roselle, brings a bright, cranberry-like tartness; hawthorn berry adds a mild, gently fruity and woody base that rounds the sharp edges; and orange peel lifts the aroma with fragrant citrus. Served hot it is a warming, fruity cup, and chilled it makes a vivid iced tea with a tart finish.

None of the three ingredients comes from the tea plant, so this blend is naturally caffeine free.

How to use it

Steep the blend, covered, in water just off the boil until the colour deepens, about five minutes, then strain, adjusting the amount to taste. Add honey or a slice of orange if you prefer it softer. For iced tea, brew it a little stronger and pour it straight over ice so the glass does not taste watered down; leftover infusion keeps for a day in a covered jar in the fridge.
