Armenian Hot Pepper Flakes
Hot Armenian Pepper is a vibrant, spicy red pepper powder made from Capsicum annuum, commonly used in Armenian and Middle Eastern cooking. Known for its sharp heat and subtle smoky undertones, this pepper adds bold flavor to a wide range of dishes.
It's a versatile seasoning that works well in stews, soups, marinades, kebabs, roasted meats, and vegetable dishes. Traditional Armenian recipes like khashlama, harissa, and various grilled dishes often rely on this pepper for its clean, fiery heat. A small amount goes a long way, making it ideal for anyone who enjoys a strong and pronounced spice profile.
Rich in capsaicin, Hot Armenian Pepper delivers its signature fiery heat in every pinch.
How to use it
Sprinkle half a teaspoon over hummus, eggs, grilled meat or roasted vegetables as a finishing flake, or stir it into a lamb kofta mix. Warm it gently in olive oil for a red chilli oil to drizzle over soup and yoghurt. It is sharper than Aleppo pepper, so start with less if you are swapping the two. Technique tip: warm the oil only to about the temperature of a hot bath before the flakes go in, since a hot pan burns them and dulls the red to brown.
