Silk Road Velvet Green Tea Blend

Silk Road Velvet is a loose green tea blend of marshmallow flower, licorice root, green tea and ginger. Licorice root gives the cup a natural sweetness, ginger adds a gentle, warming spice and the green tea brings a light, grassy finish. Marshmallow flower, the dried bloom of the marshmallow plant, contributes a soft floral character and gives the infusion its smooth, velvety feel, which is where the name comes from.

The blend includes true green tea, so it contains naturally occurring caffeine.

How to use it

Let boiled water cool for a minute or two, then pour it over the blend and steep for three to four minutes before straining, adjusting the amount of blend to taste. Slightly cooler water keeps the green tea smooth rather than bitter while still drawing out the sweetness of the licorice and the warmth of the ginger. Serve it hot, or let it cool and pour it over ice with a slice of lemon.
