Hawthorn, Hibiscus & Orange Peel Herbal Tea

Ameen Foods Hawthorn, Hibiscus & Orange Peel Herbal Tea brings together three botanicals in a loose blend with a tart flavour and bright citrus aroma. Hibiscus gives the infusion its red colour, while orange peel adds a fragrant citrus note alongside the herbal character of hawthorn.

Hawthorn herb adds a mild, gently fruity and woody base that keeps the tartness of the hibiscus rounded. Hibiscus, also called roselle or karkade, brings a bright cranberry-like sharpness and a deep ruby colour, and the orange peel adds a fragrant citrus lift. Served hot it is a warming, fruity herbal infusion, and chilled over ice it makes a refreshing iced tea with a tart finish. It is naturally caffeine free, since none of the three ingredients comes from the tea plant.

Flavour and preparation

Prepare according to the directions on your pack and strain before serving.

How to use it

Steep the blend, covered, in just-boiled water until the colour deepens, then strain. Add honey or a slice of orange if you like it softer. Technique tip: for iced tea, brew it a little stronger and pour it over ice so the glass does not taste watered down. Leftover infusion keeps for a day in a covered jar in the fridge.
