Moonlit Meadow Herbal Tea

Moonlit Meadow Herbal Tea is a loose evening blend of chamomile, valerian root, lemon balm and peppermint. It brews a pale straw gold and tastes soft and lightly sweet: the apple-like note of chamomile comes first, lemon balm adds a gentle lemony brightness and peppermint gives a cool finish, with the earthy, woody character of valerian sitting underneath. Expect pale chamomile flowers, green leaf and small pieces of root in the jar; valerian has a strong earthy smell when dry that settles into the background once brewed.

It contains no tea leaf, so this blend is naturally caffeine free.

How to use it

Pour water just off the boil over the blend, cover the cup and steep for about five minutes, then strain, adjusting the amount of blend to taste. Covering matters here: valerian root is dense and slow to open, and an uncovered cup lets the peppermint aroma escape before the root has given its flavour. Drink it plain or with a little honey as a quiet evening cup.
