Organic Matcha Green Tea is a finely ground green tea powder with a vivid fresh green colour, a smooth vegetal flavour and a gentle, mellow sweetness on the finish. Because the whole leaf is whisked into the water rather than steeped and strained, matcha gives a fuller, creamier cup than leaf green tea, and it blends easily into lattes, smoothies and baking.
As a true tea from Camellia sinensis, matcha contains naturally occurring caffeine.
How to use it
Sift about one teaspoon into a bowl, add a splash of water around 75 to 80°C and whisk into a smooth paste, then top up to about 150ml and whisk briskly in a zigzag until a fine foam forms. For a latte, whisk the paste and pour it over warm or iced milk. Technique tip: never use boiling water, which scorches the powder and turns it bitter, and always sift first so the cup stays free of lumps.
