House Nut & Dried Fruit Mix (Mewa)

House mix is a ready made blend of nuts and dried fruit, so every handful lands somewhere different: a crisp nut, then something chewy and sweet. Think of the mewa bowl that comes out with tea, or the trail mix you would build yourself if you had the patience to buy six things separately.

The point of a mix is balance, and this one is put together so the sweetness of the dried fruit sits against the fat and crunch of the nuts instead of drowning it. It is sold loose by weight in 200g, 400g and 1kg bags rather than in single serve packets, so you can keep a jar on the counter and refill it.

How to use them

Set it out in a bowl on a Nowruz or mewa platter with tea, or beside a cheese board. Scatter it over yogurt, porridge and grain bowls, fold it into granola, cookies and energy bars, or use it to finish a rice pulao or a green salad where you want crunch and a little sweetness. Technique tip: chop the mix roughly before baking with it so the fruit and nuts spread through the batter instead of sinking.
